The following species live mostly in aquatic and marine parks and are not found in the Denali National Park.
Porifera
Also Known As: Sponges
Characteristics of Poriferas include:
Porifera are not found in Denali National park because there are not any permanent marine areas suitable for this group. There are not enough aquatic environments or habitats suitable for the living of sponges in the park
Characteristics of Poriferas include:
- Feeding through pores on their outer walls
- Cellular level organization which means different cells perform different functions
- Asexual and sexual reproduction
- A skeleton made up of collagen and spicules

Cnidaria
Also Known As: Jellyfish, Corals, etc.
Characteristics include:
Cnidarians are not found in this park because they need a mostly aquatic environment or marine area to live in. Denali National Park is mostly tundra, and woodland. There are lakes in Denali, but they are not suitable for the living conditions that cnidarians need to survive.
Characteristics include:
- Similar basic features of anatomy as other cnidarians
- An internal sac for digestion
- Three layers in the body wall
- Radially symmetrical ( if cut through any axis, they will be the same size, and shape)
- Generally marine, but a few are found in freshwater

Echinodermata
Also Known As: Starfish
Characteristics:
Echinoderms are exclusively marine; this is why there are not found in Denali National Park. They live in various habitats from the intertidal zone, down to the bottom of the deep sea trenches and from sand to rubble to coral reefs and in cold and tropical seas, yet none of these habitats are found in Denali.
Characteristics:
- Radial symmetry
- Several arms
- No heart, brain, nor eyes, but some brittle stars seem to have light sensitive parts on their arms
- Tentacle-like structures called tube feet with suction pads situated at their extremities
